The Juggling Act
THe Juggling Act
As a working mom of three, I can relate to the long list of things that us moms need to think about and get done. I like to call this the juggling act. With my first baby I thought I had prepared myself but boy was I wrong! With each baby after, it got a little harder to manage everything, and was overwhelming at times. I remember there being a point after each of my kids were born where I questioned myself, "Can I handle all of this? How will I find the time?". I take each day, one day at a time and accept that sometimes things won't get done but, as long as my kids are happy and I am taking care of myself, IT WILL BE OKAY!
Of course along this journey I have found some helpful ways to make it a little bit easier. So, here are five must-haves to help stay organized and manage daily tasks effectively:
Planner or Organizer: A good planner or organizer can be a lifesaver for a juggling mom. I am a list person so having things in one place is a must have for me. Choose one that suits your style, whether it's a paper planner or a digital app. Use it to schedule appointments, track important dates, and jot down to-do lists. Having a central place to manage your tasks and commitments will help you stay on top of things. This is the planner I am currently using and I am working on creating a digital one.
Meal Prep Tools: Meal planning and preparation can be time-consuming, but essential for maintaining a healthy family routine. Invest in meal prep tools like food container, a slow cooker, or an instant pot to streamline the cooking process. Plan your meals in advance, batch cook, and utilize freezer-friendly recipes to save time and ensure nutritious meals for your family. I love freezer friendly recipes, you can check out some of my favorites at the top of the page under Quick Recipes
Support Network: As a juggling mom, having a strong support network is invaluable. Surround yourself with family, friends, or other parents who can provide assistance, advice, and emotional support when needed. Consider joining parenting groups or online communities where you can connect with other moms facing similar challenges.
Time-Saving Gadgets: Look for innovative gadgets that can help you save time and effort. For example, a robotic vacuum cleaner can handle the floors while you focus on other tasks. A hands-free pumping bra can allow you to multitask while pumping breast milk. Explore smart home devices that can automate tasks like controlling lights, temperature, or playing lullabies, making your life easier.
Self-Care Essentials: It's essential for a juggling mom to prioritize self-care. Invest in self-care essentials that allow you to relax and recharge. This may include items like a cozy bathrobe, scented candles, shower steamers, a comfortable mattress, or a good e-book. Find small pockets of time throughout the day to engage in activities that bring you joy and help reduce stress.
Remember, finding a balance between your various roles as a mom, partner, and individual can be challenging. Be kind and patient with yourself and remember that it's okay to ask for help when needed. Prioritizing your well-being and finding effective strategies to manage your responsibilities will ultimately benefit both you and your little ones.
